Lewandowski Sets New Milestone with 41st and 42nd Goals of the Season

Bayern Munich Star Surpasses Iconic Striker's 40-Goal Mark

Robert Lewandowski has etched his name into the history books of German football by breaking Gerd Müller's legendary Bundesliga goal record. The Polish striker achieved this remarkable feat in the 5-0 victory over Stuttgart on Saturday, scoring his 41st and 42nd league goals of the season.

Müller's record of 40 goals in a single season stood for 49 years, having been set back in the 1971/72 campaign. Lewandowski has now surpassed that mark, becoming the most prolific scorer in Bundesliga history.

Lewandowski's achievement is even more impressive considering the high level of competition in the modern era. In fact, he is only the third player to reach 40 Bundesliga goals in a single season, alongside Müller and Uli Hoeneß.

The Polish striker's remarkable goal-scoring exploits have earned him numerous accolades throughout his career. He has won the Bundesliga Golden Boot six times, more than any other player in history. Lewandowski has also been named the FIFA Men's Player of the Year twice, in 2020 and 2021.

With his latest achievement, Lewandowski has cemented his status as one of the greatest strikers of all time. He joins an elite group of players who have broken long-standing records and left an indelible mark on the sport of football.
